DUTCH BEAUTY HOMERS

The name already implies it: the breeders were looking for an especially beautiful pigeon with elegance. As basic material the Racing Pigeon was used, which had been created in Belgium between 1815 and 1825.

ARDENNER BANTAM

The creation of this breed took place in the area around Liege. According to sources, the large Ardenner, local poultry and Old English Game were used to create the first Ardenner Bantams. This breed is also recognized in a rumpless variety.

THE FRENCH BAGHDAD

It happens often enough that you hear the remark during judging the French Baghdad: "Is that a pigeon? Oh, it is so ugly!" Such a reaction is normal for people who are not fully conversant with Fancy pigeons in all their variety. Also, you cannot please everyone in this hobby.

THE Lucerne

The Lucerne is the 'Pixie' of the Swiss Pigeon Breeds. With its unusual shaped head, high peak crest, large dark eyes and groused legs, it almost reminds you of some drawing out of a children’s fairy tale book. It even has a temperament to match!

Evaluating the

EXHIBITION Sebastopol

Knowing what the Standard says isn't the same as under-standing what it desires. This is where experience viewing birds, both very good and not so good, is helpful. Nothing will teach anyone what is desired so much as having an excellent specimen on the ground in front of you.

FRENCH EXHIBITIONS

Part 1

In France, it is quite normal on a Sunday afternoon to go and visit a fellow breeder who lives 200 miles away. This gives a very special atmosphere in the sport experience, especially at a show where participants often stay for a week (with their family) at a local hotel, to experience the total event.

Collecting pigeon statues and curios

Collecting mini pigeon figurines began following a visit to the President of the VCN / the Flying Roller Club in the Netherlands. His father made the most beautiful pigeon designs and dovecotes of copper. At that time I already had several pigeon statues, but not a much of a collection. However, I started to bring home everything that had to do with pigeons, to the chagrin of my wife.
